EBV Elektronik lancerer OMAP-board
Under navnet EBVBeagle har EBV Elektronik indtroduceret et low-cost udviklingssystem, der bygget op omkring en OMAP3530 processorer fra Texas Instruments (in english).
EBV Elektronik announces the EBVBeagle low-cost development tool delivering laptop performance on a small, fan-less board. It is also fully ready-to-use and comes with comprehensive design, sales and software support from EBV’s application specialists.
The core element on the 8 cm square EBVBeagle board is an OMAP3530 processor supplied by Texas Instruments, which contains a superscalar ARM Cortex A8, running up to 600 MHz and providing more than 1,200 Dhrystone Mips as well as abundant memory.
There is also an integrated 2D/3D graphics accelerator (POWERVR SGX) supporting OpenGL ES 2.0, which enables the OMAP3530 to render up to 12 million polygons per second. The chip also contains a dedicated multimedia unit, incorporating a TMS320C64x+ DSP core (up to 430 MHz), capable of processing HD video content. Even in continuous operation, the small board achieves this impressive performance without a fan.
The EBVBeagle board communicates with the outside world via its various interfaces. Therefore, an SD/MMC+ card, stereo-out, stereo-in, RS-232 and USB 2.0 high-speed OTGs are placed above the plug connectors typically used in the sector for DVI-D and S-Video. Power for the entire highperformance board can be supplied via the USB port or a separate power socket. The interfaces are routed out via separate JTAG, I²C, I²S, SPI and SD/MMC ports, and provide the board with extended flexibility or integration into an overall system.
The EBVBeagle board already has its own worldwide community, which also provides the board’s entire design data as well as various compatible software packages free of charge.
- However, with the EBVBeagle – as with the 5 reference designs we have developed up to now – customers receive much more than just the hardware implementation of a high-performance, low-power board, explains Rudy Van Parijs, Vice President of Technical Development at EBV Elektronik.
- The EBVBeagle is another ready-to-go solution provided through the normal EBV sales channel. As the operating system is included, customers can start immediately developing applications or integrating into their overall system. We also provide comprehensive design expertise via our technical sales department and application specialists.
Consistently High Performance
- EBVBeagle is another mile-stone in our excellent business relationship with Texas Instruments, continues Van Parijs.
- For six consecutive years, we have been No.1 in TI’s EMEA distribution network. It is therefore no surprise that we are the first distributor in EMEA to have developed a customer-specific version. This is further proof of our special relationship with TI.”
In addition to the fully-equipped board, detailed documentation, external power supply, DVI cable and SD card containing a pre-installed Linux image, the ‘EBVBeagle – out-of-the-box solution’ also includes a USB-to-Ethernet stick allowing this
